It has basic styling that can be dressed up with collars, cuffs, or a belt. It can also be dressed down with an apron to look more like a work gown. It is a 2 piece gown so that you can mix and match it with other items in your wardrobe.
It is a 100% cotton in a small rich, navy with a light blue floral and a gold dot. It has gold metal buttons down the front. It is 100% cotton.
Over the years, we have people comment on social media that polka dot fabric was available in the 1850’s and 1860’s, but it was available and popular during the War era. With the invention of synthetic dyes in the middle of the nineteenth century, you were able to get beautiful vibrant colors and we all love color!
The bodice has a lovely jewel neckline with dropped shoulders and 2 piece coat styled sleeves, with wide elbows. It 4 darts in front with princess seams in the back, for the perfect fit. It is fully lined and closes down the front with gold metal buttons. The hemline and sleeves have been hand finished.
The skirt is a full 180 inches around and has been hand hemmed to approximately 44 inches. It has been hand pleated onto a matching waistband and closes in the back with hooks and eyes.
The gown, itself, measures waist of 24 inches with a bust of 32 inches.
