All Civil War ladies wore layers of petticoats to cover the bones of their hoops. They didn't wear just one petticoat, they wore mulitiple petticoats so their gowns had the billowy appearance that we all love.

This petticoat is a black cotton blend broadcloth. It is 180 inches around with a row of lace at the hemline. It has a drawstring waist so that it fits anyone. It is approximately 40 inches long.
